Students can submit Bachelor theses on topics that can be classified within the areas of lab sciences and medical diagnostics. Subareas within lab sciences include: lab automation, liquid handling, sample processing, biobanking, detection, data gathering and interpretation, IT & data management, as well as microreactors and (in) process analytics.
As far as possible, the thesis should improve equipment and/or technical solutions, extend the range of application of existing solutions or lead to new methods and procedures – at the interface between life science/medicine and engineering/IT.
The solutions may be used in, for example, research, development or quality control in the (bio)-pharmaceutical industry, food and agro-industry, chemical industry and biotechnology, or in diagnostic procedures in laboratories, clinics, practices, at home, in mobile solutions or in the environment.
They may come from the following disciplines, for example: systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, surface technology, nanotechnology, materials science; physics, ICT, bioinformatics, biochemistry, chemistry, food chemistry, molecular biology, medical technology, etc.
The thesis should have been graded 5 or higher and evaluated by the university in the last 18 months before the submission deadline.
