SiLA – the International Standardization Organisat

Laboratory automation systems are increasingly used in the life science industry and in university research. This enables samples in the laboratory to be processed faster, more reliably and more accurately – while data volume and complexity are simultaneously increasing. However, the lack of industry standards makes it difficult to integrate equipment quickly and easily into existing laboratory automation systems.

Toolpoint, the organisation for the lab science industry, addressed this problem head-on by founding the international standardisation organisation SiLA (Standardisation in Lab Automation) in 2009. The organisation has 30 internationally active member companies based in Switzerland, Germany, France, the UK, Greece, Finland, Austria, the US and Canada and has been an independent international organisation since 2012.
