Welcome to BASEL LIFE 2018

Basel Life emerged from a group of leading scientists of biomedical research, initiated by Prof. Susan Gasser, with the aim to present Europe’s Top research to an international audience, taking advantage of the position of Basel s a unique Life Sciences cluster. It combines sciences, technology and an exhibition to bridge between basic science and translational science but also between science and business. 

Basel Life 2017 attracted more than 2’300 participants with a high quality programme, thus offering an important platform for sciences, networking and exhibition. This also applies again for BASEL LIFE 2018: remarkable talks will be given by high-level keynote speakers like Nobel laureate May-Britt Moser, new developments in the Life Sciences field will be presented in the exhibition and an overview on recent research will be given during the scientific sessions. The concept will be completed by the first Job Fair at BASEL LIFE. 

Basel Life 2018 is built on four pillars:

• EMBO at BASEL LIFE, an international scientific conference on current and emerging topics in the life sciences. The meeting is entitled “Molecules in biology and medicine”. It will cover aging, cancer, inflammation, metabolic disorders, infection biology, the microbiota, neurodegenerative disease, sensory deficit and model organisms in disease. Keynote speakers are the Nobel laureate May-Britt Moser and Jeff Engelman, Global Head of Oncology at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research.
• Long standing Innovation Forums related to applied R&D topics and business. More than 100 talks in 7 Forums cover a diversity of topics - ranging from best practices of cutting edge methodologies, advances in Life Sciences technologies, applications of emerging research, community development of topics and core elements for the development of new therapeutics.
• The well-established industry exhibition MipTec. Get informed about latest Life Sciences technologies and services for all engaged in the field of industrially relevant, translational, basic and applied research and development at this efficient platform. It is a growing and prestigious show bringing over 100 vendors together to showcase cutting-edge technologies. Featuring the Product-Innovation Award, the Innovation Village, a platform for start-ups in Life Sciences, a new feel-good meeting area and many other highlights, MipTec is more than an exhibition, it’s the heart of BASEL LIFE. 
• The first European Job Fair @ BASEL LIFE - a showcase for Life Sciences companies and an opportunity to meet with young and highly qualified scientists from all over Europe during this exhibition. Various Life Science Companies and academic institutions attend the one day event to present themselves as attractive employers and to meet in the networking area for personal discussions and communication between industry and young scientists.

The beautiful city of Basel is the perfect location for this high-quality event as 10% of the world’s revenue in pharmaceutical industry is generated here. There is worldwide hardly any comparable cluster of both world-recognized research Institutions and life science companies as there is in the greater Basel area .

The European Association for Life Sciences (EALS) constitutes the executive board BASEL LIFFE 2018. The board wishes all participants a vibrant, stimulating and rewarding event.
